Kate McClymont AM

2024 Oration Speaker

The inaugural Women in Media Oration Honouring Caroline Jones AO celebrates a trailblazer of the industry, mentor to many, and much-loved leader. As Women in Media’s patron for many years, Caroline Jones AO's support for all women working across the media industry was beyond compare.

This gala dinner event honours her legacy and will fittingly be delivered by Kate McClymont AM - celebrated investigative journalist with The Sydney Morning Herald, ten-time Walkley Award winner, and groundbreaking journalist whose work has shaped the national agenda.

McClymont’s address promises to be a rousing and insightful reflection on the media landscape, shaped by her dynamic perspective and signature wit.

McClymont’s seemingly fearless investigations have uncovered some of the country's most egregious cases of corruption, fraud and misconduct. From Melissa Caddick to head of the Health Services Union Michael Williamson, former NSW Labor minister Eddie Obeid to controversial neurosurgeon Charlie Teo, and murderer Ron Medich to disgraced High Court judge Dyson Heydon. She was on the frontline reporting on the Lehrmann-Ten defamation trial that captivated the country this week, uncovered multiple allegations against broadcaster Alan Jones, and won journalism's most prestigious prize, the Gold Walkley, for exposing the Canterbury Bulldogs salary cap scandal.

The Women In Media Oration Honouring Caroline Jones AO is a must-attend evening for senior executives in the media and government landscapes. The Oration will foster intellectual discourse, inspire positive change for gender equity, and contribute to the betterment of society.

“She was a great encourager of her colleagues and we pay tribute to her incredible public service, her grace and her impeccable character.”

Leigh Sales AM

“She saw something special in us, even when we couldn’t necessarily see it ourselves. She was an incredibly fearless journalist but an even more remarkable human being.”

Courtney Fowler, Former Rural Reporter
